Enrichment Program

Enrichment Program

Poughkeepsie Day School’s Enrichment Program presents students of all ages with opportunities to learn new skills in a joyful and supportive environment. The program is scheduled parallel to After-School care, so children can join their peers in After for a healthy snack prior to attending class and have the option to re-join them for some downtime when class ends. The fee for After is waived for PDS students on days that they take an enrichment class.

Life Drawing is an observational drawing course engaged with drawing from a live nude model. The class meets for 90 minutes weekly for the full year. Each session is formatted with short and long poses. Drawing media include charcoal, graphite, and ink. The course aids in the development of an understanding of proportion and the human form, the expressiveness of line and gesture, and the role of light and shadow in defining volumetric form. There will be drop boxes posted on the course site each quarter where students should post jpegs of representative selected drawings.
