Learning to Draw and Sketch

Practicing Their Drawing Ability

The Lower School Visual Art program is designed to offer students Pre-K through Grade Five experiences in exploring, evaluating, analyzing, and creating art.

Critical to the program is the notion that the arts, as a whole, provide students with ample opportunities to communicate about, respond to, and experience the world around them.

Students, PreK to Grade 5, explore and create in all the fundamental visual art forms: painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and printmaking. Each allow students to more meaningfully create art that expresses personal meaning and showcase individual growth of technical skill. Students will also create partnerships in collaboration with homeroom learning; these collaborations will guide students in developing their understanding of how art permeates the world in which they live.
