Happy First Day of School!

5/6 th grade had a GREAT first day! They used pattern blocks to copy a pattern and then made their own. The students did a great job of explaining how this activity demonstrated their diversity of thinking and perspectives. It also helped them familiarize themselves with the supplies and layout of the classroom. Ask your child about  ‘clock buddies’ where they made appointments with a partner to learn more about each other.

We used chromebooks to access myPDS where students can see their schedules, messages, and assignments. (myPDS is a great resource for parents as well). We practiced writing an email. We will continue to practice those skills in advisory. Students read, discussed, and signed the technology acceptable use policy. They are assigned to have their parent/guardian read and sign the policy and bring it back for me to collect during advisory.

At the end of the day they wrote me an email with ‘what was awesome’,  ‘what they were concerned about’, and ‘what they are looking forward to’ highlights included:

Spanish, Humanities, “everything”, making new friends, and Recess!
