Happy new year to everyone!

I hope you are looking forward to the new school year as much as the faculty and staff are. This last week has been a rapid sprint of painting walls and planning curriculum, developing new ideas, and refining those from past year’s. We are proud and excited to have hosted the workshop Undoing Racism® presented by the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond (PISAB) here at PDS. Half of our faculty and staff joined with other community groups, including the Poughkeepsie Healthy Black and Latinx Coalition, to gain a deeper understanding of internalized and structural racism and work towards creating meaningful change in our community. We will do the workshop again in the near future, so that  the remainder of our faculty and staff, as well as other community members, can receive this excellent learning.

We welcomed our new faculty and staff and we look forward to seeing all of you, adults and children at the different events next week. And I hope you enjoy this new newsletter format! The goal is to let you know what’s going on at the school, in all divisions, so you have a better sense of what a powerful education your children have the opportunity to experience, at all ages.
