Greetings, Parents!
We had a frightfully good halloween! We enjoyed seeing all of you, and marching through our spooky tunnel! Afterwards, we explored the properties of dry ice with Shira, and even got to taste a sample! (It tasted like seltzer!) Ask your student why!
Also in science, we explored leaves, which we collected from the playground, and why they change colors. We made leaf rubbings. Ask your student what the name of the compound is in leaves that causes this change!
We explored grouping and multiples in math, using candy corn as a manipulative. We discussed division and multiplication strategies together as a class, as well as greater than/less than.
In writing, we continued working on our persuasive letter to Spiro. Many of us think we should have extra recess time, but not all, ask your students what they think, and what their reasons are to support their opinion!
In social studies, we began exploring language, and how it is an integral part of the great leap forward. Ask your student what vervet monkeys communicate through language, and how grammar sets humans apart.
In reading, we continued learning about The One and Only Ivan. Ask your student what a simile is, and if they can provide you with an example!
We celebrated a birthday this week, and played family face-off as a class. Please see photos!
