Learning new songs together, making playdough, mixing paint colors, exploring with math manipulatives, practicing name games and activities, starting writing workshop, learning the routines and how to take care of our classroom materials, these are just some activities we have been doing in our first days of Pre-k/Kindergarten. The class especially enjoyed choosing the color for our playdough and painting a garden insect using watercolors to decorate our classroom door.

Yesterday we pondered the question: “Why do we come to School?” This will eventually lead us to our class contract. Each child took a few moments to think about this and came up with very thoughtful and on target answers!
We are off to a great start to the year! This class has particularly been doing a fantastic job taking care of our classroom.
We have also been exploring the school and going to specials.
Music with Ken: Singing “The Wacky” song and learning the beat
Art with Michelle: Experiencing blue! With different mediums and different papers and seeing how each respond to each other. Using 4 different papers (newsprint, diffusing, watercolor, and drawing paper).
Spanish with Christian: singing together, learning hello, goodbye, how are you
Drama with Stephen: Acting out various animals that live in Africa
