Two Faculty Grants Awarded

The PDS Parents Association coordinates several fundraisers during the year and receives money from each family at the beginning of the school year. Each and every parent is a member of the PDS Parents Association. Money that is raised by the Parents Association helps to fund the Faculty Grant Program. We are proud that our efforts enable us to support the creative initiatives of teachers and staff to enhance learning opportunities in our school.

The PDS Parents Association is pleased to announce two awards for the spring 2016 grant cycle.  These grants, like the one made in the winter cycle, foster collaboration and education in the areas of environmental responsibility, the arts and technology. The Parents Association is proud to support these important aspects of a PDS education.Fiber (1 of 1)

The first grant will be awarded to Julie O’Sullivan, humanities and ESL teacher, for her Fiber Arts projects. These include Fiber Club for the middle and high school divisions and a vertical block course for the high school.  There will also be a collaboration component between the lower and high school divisions, so all three divisions will be impacted by these projects. Congratulations, Julie!

OzobotThe second grant will be awarded to Carol Bahruth, advancement associate for data management and online/blended learning, to help jump start the computer science curriculum with Ozobot. This project will have a long range effect over all three divisions. Congratulations, Carol!

The PDS Parents Association Faculty Grant Committee will begin accepting grant applications again in the fall of 2016.  We encourage faculty and staff to consider applying to this grant for financial support for creative and innovative programs that they wish to bring to the classroom.  For questions about grant criteria or for questions about how to write a grant, please contact us at
