Learn more about the school, make friends and support our teachers

At the volunteer appreciation breakfast, attendees talked about why they enjoyed participating in the PDS Parents Association:

  • “Its a great way to meet other parents.”
  • “We have a lot of fun – laughter at every meeting.”
  • “Whether I volunteer for an hour at an event or come to meetings, I always feel welcome.”
  • “Our efforts support the teachers – the Faculty Grant Program makes a big impact.”

The PDS Parents Association’s mission is to build community and support our school. We do this through events like the back to school picnic, the lower school potluck breakfasts and the middle school and high school dinners. Our flagship program is Faculty Grants – our fundraising efforts support grants that enable the school to do extra programs for our kids. This year, we supported robotics/STEM education and a climbing wall in the gym.

Although our activities are coming to an end this year, we are looking for volunteers for next year. Volunteerism takes all forms – from serving as a classroom parent representative to chairing an event to spending a few hours staffing our events. Not sure how you might be able to contribute? Please send a note to me (Kim Carpenter at kimscarpenter@aol.com) and we can match your time and talents to an activity. Even if you can’t attend our monthly meeting, we can find a way for you to contribute. The following are some positions that are currently open: Secretary, Box Tops, Liaison for the Spring Benefit Auction and Maker Faire to name a few!

On behalf of the PDS PA, have a fantastic summer.
