PDS PA Awards Two Faculty Grants

The PDS Parents Association is pleased to announce two Faculty Grants in Honor of Josie Holford awards for the 2016-2017 school year.

The first grant recipient is Lisa McVey. Her grant will be used toward the purchase of an 8′ high Climbing Wall for the gym. Lower, middle and upper school students will enjoy programs designed for the use of the climbing wall, and the climbing wall will have lasting impact over countless years for all of our students, and for the community as well. Congratulations and thank you, Lisa, for researching and designing a curriculum around the use of the climbing wall.

The second grant recipients are collaborators Carol Bahruth, Li Pipman Denaut and David Held. The grant will be used to purchase new, updated equipment for the robotics team, the STEAM program and the maker lab. These educators will be developing and implementing programs with the use of modern equipment for robotics, engineering and design. Congratulations and thank you to Carol, Li and David for your continued implementation of the STEAM curriculum.

The PDS PA does fundraising throughout the year to help support this grant program. Activities like the New and Used Book Fairs and the PDS Picture Day as well as programs like Box Tops, Amazon Smile and Shop ‘n Save help support this initiative. The grant committee is composed of parent representatives from all three divisions.

Congratulations to these outstanding educators.
