 Assistant Boys Soccer Coach

Poughkeepsie Day School is seeking an Assistant Boys Soccer Coach to work with our varsity soccer team. Responsibilities include coaching duties and transporting players in school vans.

The schedule is three to four days per week. Practices run from 3:30 to 5pm; games run later.

Previous coaching experience required. Defensive driving course required.


Learning Specialist for Grades Pre-k – 12

Poughkeepsie Day School seeks qualified applicants for an immediate opening for an experienced K-12 Learning Specialist.

The learning specialist works with students, teachers and families in all three divisions of the school to support the academic needs of a diverse student population. The position works closely with a part-time lower school literacy specialist, a part-time lower school math specialist and a part-time school social worker.

Responsibilities include helping teachers modify and differentiate curriculum, working directly with students, in small groups in a pull-out and push-in capacity.

Qualifications include experience working with a range of learners and an ability to collaborate with teachers; some supervisory experience.

Requirements: Advanced degree in special education or as a learning specialist; experience in a school setting.


After-school Program Assistants

Poughkeepsie day School is seeking several assistants for our after-school program. Hours are from 2:30 to 6:00pm. This is a part-time position, running daily whenever school is open.

Important qualifications, along with a genuine interest and delight in the wellbeing and happiness of children, include the ability to:

  • take responsibility and work as a team
  • recognize how and when to offer support and guidance
  • maintain calm in periods of intense activity
  • interact and communicate well with parents

Personal hobbies and skills are helpful, including: musical ability, theater experience, athletic skills, practice in any of the visual arts and crafts, etc.

Previous experience working with children is essential. The position offers excellent experience for applicants seeking a career in education.


Substitute Teachers

Poughkeepsie Day School is seeking per diem substitute teachers in a variety of subjects for all three academic divisions: lower, middle and high school.

The school day runs from 8:15am to 3:15pm.

B.A. required. New York State certification preferred.
