IBM Matching Grants Program

PDS is pleased to participate in the K-12 IBM Matching Grants program. Unique among corporate matching grants programs, it enables IBM employees and retirees to contribute selected IBM equipment and software to eligible K-12 schools by donating only 20 percent of the retail value, with IBM providing the remaining 80%. In other words, a cash gift of $1,000 from an IBM employee or retiree to PDS would translate into $5,000 for IBM technology purchases.

Over the past several years, thanks to PDS board leadership, we have realized more than $165,000 in IBM equipment, at no cost to the school.

How to Participate
Participation in this special program is easy:

  • Each donor fills out an IBM Matching Grant form, including signature and IBM serial number
  • Each donor makes out a check—for any amount up to $5,000 per year—payable to IBM
  • Each donor submits a check and paperwork to the PDS IBM parent coordinator (do not send checks directly to PDS)
  • The IBM parent coordinator prepares the packet containing all donor checks and paperwork and submits it to IBM
  • Once the order is placed, PDS will send a letter acknowledging the gift to each donor; donations are tax deductible for the amount of each donor’s contribution

For more information, contact Mary Lou Hudak, development associate, at 845-462-7600, ext. 109. She will put the PDS IBM parent coordinator in touch with you who, in turn, will guide you through the paperwork. Once the order is placed, PDS will send a tax letter to the donor.
